This is a perfect super bowl, BBQ, or party food.  It’s rich, sweet, spicy, and it works up in less than 15 minutes – so it won’t take you away from the fun or stress you out. Even better? It only requires three ingredients! You can make this fun appetizer on the Barby (I prefer charcoal) or broil in the oven.  I chose the later this week, because of the dreaded arctic front.
Anyways, think BBQ MEAT CANDY. Yes, meat candy – what’s not to love?

BBQ Jammy Sausage

Another thing I really love about this is it is customizable.  Love Raspberry-Strawberry Jam? Use it! More of an Apricot Jam kinda fan? Use it! Plus you get to use the BBQ sauce you like.  We keep Famous Dave’s BBQ Sauce on hand in the pantry because it’s something we can both agree on in the BBQ sauce department.  I prefer to make the recipe with Cherry Jam and Stubb’s BBQ Wing Sauce – it’s more bold and peppery. But, as I said this is about what you like. So if Pear-Honey-Rosemary is your favorite jam, go for it!

And on a final note: this is a cocktail sausage recipe, but for some reason I like to call it BBQ JAMMY SAUSAGE. So that is what I’m going with.

  • 1 package bbq sausage, sliced
  • 3/4 cup bbq sauce, your choice
  • 1/4 cup jam, I chose Kelle B Blackberry

Prepare grill or heat oven to broil, with rack moved to top of oven. You only want a few inches between the pan and the broiler. See the below picture.

Measure out 3/4 cup of your bbq sauce of choice;
1/4 cup of jam;
and combine all three in medium-large mixing bowl.
Toss to combine.
It occurred to me as I was doing this – you could also mix the sauces before adding to bowl.

Jammy Sausage 2

Pour mixture onto a foil-lined baking sheet;
Spread out to one layer;
Place under broiler like so;
and cook for 5-6 minutes or until bubbling
and you start getting those lovely charred edges!
Which is also my favorite part!

Plate up and my favorite part… Eat!

Meat candy perfection in under 15 minutes.
Thanks Kelle B Jam for making my life a little sweeter!

Not having a super bowl party or other event?
No worries – we made this and served it up wrapped in tortillas with coleslaw.
Divine BBQ bliss.
