The Super Bowl is coming… what are you making? Our family loves, loves, loves dip! I’ve got a fun one in the works, but until then here is a family favorite too: Tara’s Chili Dip. It is my Sister-in-law’s specialty and it makes any/every occasion more spoon worthy!
Some other “game day” favorites for us are sliders! I kept seeing these little, lovely ham sammies float across pinterest. I also kept seeing ham and pineapple sandwiches – so here we are and I combined the two! They are amazing. I could eat twelve. I’d even admit that I had twelve and once you tried one… you’d totally understand. They would be great with leftover Easter ham and if you like a bit o’ kick, maybe some horseradish in the mayo.
Cheers to kick off and making great recipes even better!
Ultimate Hawaiian Sliders
- 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
- 1 1/2 cups fresh pineapple, minced/pureed
24 mini sandwich rolls
1 pound thinly sliced cooked deli ham
1 pound sliced Swiss cheese
1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/2 Tablespoons poppy seeds
2-3 Tablespoons minced white onion
DIRECTIONS: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Preheat pan or griddle to high (350+); meanwhile, cream butter and pineapple – I chopped my pineapple in a mini food processor. It may feel like a crazy ration of pineapple to butter, but just go with it… Spread butter evenly over cut sides of rolls. Griddle for about 2 minutes or until brown and toasty. You could stop here and eat these rolls and be all good. Just make a cheese/meat tray or something!! Or continue below:
In a bowl, mix together melted butter, Dijon, Worcestershire, and minced onion.
Spread mayonnaise on both sides, layer on Swiss, ham, and place griddled/mayo slathered roll tops, on top!
Pour over butter mixture and sprinkle poppy seeds over the top. Bake in the oven for 15 – 20 minutes, or until cheese is melted. Remove and carefully slice into individual servings. Enjoy your hard labor! These little rolls pack a flavorful punch!!
I love the buttery crunch of the poppy seed and using fresh onions, which both soften and crisp in the oven. The pineapple butter takes this already fabulous recipe over the top! It of course adds more labor, but once you bite in – it is worth every second!! You can also make these ahead of time, up to the baking portion, just cover and refrigerate overnight; bake them up when you are ready!!
I love tiny burgers and sandwiches.
